Software Developer Apprentice

A two-year apprenticeship program in CFO Technology, working as a software developer on strategic finance data sourcing and sub-ledger systems. This apprenticeship has given me exposure to all aspects of the SDLC in several roles including Software Development and Quality Assurance.

During this apprenticeship, I’ve worked with a range of technologies including Oracle (PL/SQL), Python, Jenkins, Transporter, SonarQube, Git, BitBucket, and Qlik Sense. I’ve also worked with topics such as TDD and Scaled Agile (SAFe).

Projects:

• Design and development of a Python component that integrated with the strategic subledger’s test automation framework, to complete our strategy of full front-to-back testing throughout our system.
• Using Qlik Sense to build informative and interactive reports for our Data Quality Check operational reporting, enabling self-service MI and Audit reporting.
• Design and implementation of a Python module to reformat project data for use with PI Planning, increasing the accuracy of our PI Planning reports and reducing the possibility of human error.

Interests

I enjoy swimming to keep fit and de-stress. I also enjoy coding for fun; one project I’m undertaking for learning is a testing project to get an idea around how QA Testers perform automation. Quality Assurance has always interested me because I find it fascinating to understand the process of how bugs are found and corrected.
